  2. Enter your Break (for example, 30 or 60 minutes of unpaid lunch).

  4. (Optional) Turn on Include Payment Information and set your Regular payment rate to see your pay.
  5. Read your Total Time and Gross Pay in the summary.

What counts as a lunch break?

A lunch break is unpaid meal time that is subtracted from your hours worked. A typical unpaid lunch is 30 to 60 minutes. Shorter paid breaks usually stay in your total — so only put unpaid time in the Break field. Break rules vary by state, so check your local rules; this calculator just does the math.

Example

You work 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
