Decimal hours

Decimal hours express time as a number with a fractional part instead of hours and minutes.

Payroll multiplies your rate by your hours, so minutes are converted to a decimal before pay is calculated. To convert, divide the minutes by 60.

Example: 8:15 = 8.25 hours (15 ÷ 60 = 0.25).
