## How to calculate hours in military time- Set the time format to 24 HOURS.
- Enter your Start and End for each day (e.g. 08:00 to 17:30).
- Add a Break and turn on Deduct breaks for unpaid time.
- (Optional) Add your rate under Include Payment Information.
- Read your Total Time and Gross Pay.
What is military time?
Military (24-hour) time runs 00:00–23:59 with no AM/PM, so 1 PM is 13:00 and 5 PM is 17:00. To convert to 12-hour, subtract 12 from any hour after 12:00 — or just toggle 12 HOURS in the calculator.
Example
You work 09:00 to 17:30 with a 30-minute unpaid break.
- 09:00 to 17:30 = 8 hours 30 minutes.
- Minus 30 minutes = 8 hours 0 minutes (8.00).
